SEO for plumbers, starting with what’s wrong on your site
SEO for plumbers is the work that gets a plumbing business shown when someone nearby searches for a plumber: the map results, a page for each job you do, and a site that works on a phone. We start with a free audit of your own site, with every problem circled on a screenshot, and price the fixes per job if you want us to do them.

On the made-up Harbor Plumbing site above. Your audit marks problems like these on your own pages, each one with its fix in plain words, so you or your web person can do it.
Get my free audit- 1Every page is titled “Home”
That is the line Google shows in its results, and nobody searches for “Home”.
A title for each pageThe job, the town, then the name: “Water Heater Repair in Fort Worth | Harbor Plumbing”.
- 2The top photo is 2.4 MB
It takes 4.8 s to appear on a phone, and visitors leave before it loads.
The same photo at 180 KBResized to the size it shows at and saved as WebP. It looks the same and loads in a fraction of the time.
- 3Six services, one page
Water heaters, leaks and drains share one page, so none of them can rank on its own.
A page for each serviceWater heaters, leaks and drains each get a page that can rank on its own, linked from the menu.
- 4No H1 heading
The big title is styled text saying “Welcome to our website”. Google learns nothing from it.
One heading that says it“Emergency plumber in Fort Worth” as the page’s H1, where “Welcome to our website” used to be.
- 5The phone number is a picture
Google can’t read it, so it can’t match it to your Business Profile, and nobody can tap it.
The number as textWritten out and linked, so phones can call it and Google can match it to your Business Profile.
How people look for a plumber, and what wins each search
“plumber fort worth” alone is searched about 1,600 times a month, and advertisers pay about $55.59 for one click from it (Semrush, US, October 2026). The map and the results under the ads cost nothing per visit. Pick a search to see what your site needs for it.
“emergency plumber near me”
Right nowGoogle answers with the map. The listings that say they’re open, with a number to tap, get the call, so your hours and phone have to be right on your Business Profile and on your site.
“water heater replacement fort worth”
A planned jobA page about that one job, with the town in its title. A single Services page that lists everything can’t be the best answer to this search.
“harbor plumbing reviews”
Checking you outPeople who found you look you up before they call. Recent reviews with your replies, and photos of your own vans and jobs, do the convincing.
“plumber arlington tx”
A nearby townA page for the town, only if you really work there, saying something true about it. A copy of your Fort Worth page with the name swapped doesn’t count.
The plumbing website checklist
What we look at on plumbers’ sites, on top of the eight areas we check on every site and the map listing.
- 1A page per job
Water heaters, leaks, drains, sewer lines, repiping: one page each, for the jobs you want more of.
- 2Titles with the job and the town
Like “Water Heater Repair in Fort Worth | Harbor Plumbing”, so the result says what the page is before anyone clicks.
- 3A number you can tap
Written as text and linked so a phone can call it, at the top of every page.
- 4Hours that match
The same hours on the site and on the Business Profile. If nobody answers at night, don’t say 24/7.
- 5The right map category
“Plumber” as the main category, not “Plumbing supply store”, with your services listed and your service area set.
- 6Reviews you answer
Ask after each job, and reply to every review, the bad ones too.
- 7Fast on a phone
Compressed photos, no slider at the top, nothing that jumps while the page loads.
- 8Plumber markup
Structured data of the type Plumber, with the same name, phone and hours as the profile.
SEO for other trades
Each page has its own made-up sample site, the problems we circled on it, and the searches that trade’s customers make.
SEO for plumbers, answered straight
How much does SEO for plumbers cost?
Many agencies sell plumbing SEO as a monthly package. We work the other way round: the audit is free, and if you want us to fix what it finds, we quote each job before any work starts.
Rewriting twenty page titles is a small job. Building a page for each service is a bigger one. The pricing page explains what changes the price.
How long does plumber SEO take to work?
Nobody can honestly promise a date or a position. Google sees some fixes, like a new page title, the next time it visits the page. Where you show up on the map also depends on your reviews and on how close the person searching is, and no change to your website moves that.
Do I need a page for every town I work in?
Only for towns you really serve, and only if each page says something true about working there. Copies with the town name swapped are what Google’s spam policies call doorway pages, and Google can rank the whole site lower for them.
Do you only work with businesses in Texas?
No. We look at your site from the outside, the way Google and your customers do, so where you work doesn’t matter. The sample on this page is a plumber in Fort Worth, made up for the example.
